Whitesburg Dive Team 2010

Welcome to the 2010 Whitesburg Dive Team season. We are excited about our dive team program and look forward to another great season. Please take time to read carefully all information in this letter so you don’t miss out on the opportunities for dive team this upcoming summer.

COACHES: Our new co-head coaches are Amy Cutter & Molly Ingerson. We are excited to have such enthusiastic, young divers at our pool, and beginning their coaching adventure. We feel they will continue the tradition and develop our dive program.

Dive Team Committee: Eva Ingerson is Dive Rep to the RCSL and on the WRA board. Whitesburg has a reputation of providing meet workers and responding to the tasks required to make this program work. I’m sure this season will be the same. We will need qualified JUDGES and TABLE WORKERS. See the schedule below.

Dues: This year’s dues are as follows:

One Diver: $56.00
Two Divers: $87.00
Three Divers: $107.00

Dues are payable at the Kick-off meeting, payable to WRA. Trophies may be purchased for an additional $7.00 per diver and can be added to your dues.

End-of-the-year coaches gifts can also be added to your dues. $5-$10 per diver is recommended but not required.

Kick-Off Meeting and Registration: A Parent’s Meeting and Registration for both swim and dive team will be held at the pool Monday, May 17th from 5-7 pm after the first swim team practice. Bring a prospective diver for the team! If they’re not a member of the pool, you can still join the dive team. There is only a $97.50 swim/dive team membership fee in addition to the dive team dues. Please make every effort to attend and register at this meeting.

Practice: Technically, we cannot practice on the boards without a Lifeguard. However, we are wanting to begin some trampoline and dry land practicing early, maybe before or after the swim team practices 2-3 times a week (still yet to be determined). Practice will be on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31st from 11:00-12:00, followed by the Potluck lunch. – Be sure to bring a potential diver that day. There will be food.

The regular practice schedule is yet to be finalized, but will likely be M-F 11:30am-1:00pm.

The pool opens Saturday, May 29th at 11:00 – YEA!

Eligibility Requirements: Divers must participate in one (1) dual meet to qualify for city meet. Only 2 divers per age group (2 boys & 2 girls) will participate in city meet. This will be determined at the appropriate time by the coach.

**Judges Training: Judging is a great way to learn the sport and to be a more informed supporter. Several of you have expressed interest in the past about becoming a judge. The Training meet June 7 is a great and easy way to get trained. The divers (your children) will be asked to dive at this meet, so why not get trained as either a judge or meet secretary while you’re watching.

Awards Banquet: The end of the season banquet is always held on the Monday evening after City Meet weekend. This year, the banquet will be July 12th..
